Counseling

Counseling

Counseling is not magic. It is purposeful.

As parents and teachers we tend to be sensitive to issues that bother our children, our students. Therefore we try our best to help them deal with their problems and make their childhood / school days happy. Counseling is one useful tool that parents and teachers could use to secure the desired objective.

Counseling is a one to one dialogue between the child/student and a counselor. It can be done individually or in group. The child (or children) gets an opportunity to ventilate his/her feelings. This helps to change one's behavior in a positive manner.

Counseling is not magic. It is a purposeful, planned activity that could be of variable time duration. It works well when it is a joint effort of the child, teacher, parent and the counselor. If all these stake holders whole heartily participate with patience and faith in the process, then the chance of success is extremely high.

The different types of counseling held with our students are:

  • Educational counseling for seeking admissions (inland and abroad).
  • Vocational counseling for aptitude testing and selection of career.
  • Psychological counseling for dealing with psychological issues.
  • Parental counseling for provision of familiar environment to our lovable students.

The extent of Counseling at the school level depends on the available facilities. At the minimum, we deal with children at the Psychological level. Some of the problems that are normally seen with students are:

Emotional Insecurity

  • Low self-esteem.
  • Withdrawal behavior.
  • Peer pressure, antisocial behavior, suicidal tendencies.

Behavior Issues

  • Restlessness, Attention deficit disorder (ADD) or Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).

Psychological Issues

  • Psychosomatic disorders, constant complaint of bodily pains and aches.
